The Online Clubhouse for Passionate Cyclists

I was recently introduced to a very cool Web 2.0 site for cyclists - Strava. Using the Garmin 305 GPS, you can track all of your rides online. I bought the GPS directly from Strava for just $199 (included shipping). Set-up of the Garmin takes minutes and there was no need to read the manual...how male of me.

Strava hosts my ride data, overlays it with Google maps, and then analyzes for climbs, performance, and more.

Climbs are ranked Cat4 - HC...just like The Tour. I can track my previous performances, other recent riders who have climbed the same hill, and KoM (King of Mountain) for best performances. The KoM function does an amazing job to humble my best efforts. Compared to some Bay Area cyclists, I'm lucky to be in the top 25% of any climb:

Here are some recent rides posted to Strava from all over the world. (Note these links may only work on the Firefox browser - not IE).

I'll be tracking the 2009 Pan OH Hope Ride on my GPS and plan to upload results nightly.

Safe riding,
Matthew
